William V (1602 – 1637) Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel. Married Amalie Elisabeth of Hanau-Münzenberg (1602–1651) daughter of Philip Louis II, Count of Hanau-Münzenberg.

Frederick I (1676 –1751) Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel, Prince consort of Sweden from 1718 to 1720 and King of Sweden from 1720. Founder of the Order of the Seraphim and the Order of the Sword and the Order of the Polar Star in 1748. Married firstly Luise Dorothea of Prussia (1680 – 1705) daughter of Frederick I, King in Prussia and secondly Ulrika Eleonora (1688 – 1741) Queen regnant of Sweden.

William VIII (1682 – 1760) Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel, de facto ruler of Hesse-Kassel after 1730. Knight of the Order of the White Eagle. Married Dorothea Wilhelmina (1691 –1743) daughter of Maurice William, Duke of Saxe-Zeitz. In 1736, the county of Hanau-Münzenberg went to Hesse-Kassel after the death Johann Reinhard III (1665 – 1736) the last of the Count of Hanau-Lichtenberg and Hanau-Münzenberg.

Married morganatically Gertrude Falkenstein (1803 – 1882) created Countess of Schaumburg in 1831 and Princess of Hanau and to Horowitz in 1853, daughter of Johann Gottfried Falkenstein. Their sons were Counts von Schaumburg and later Princes of Hanau.
