  • James Brydges, (1674–1744) 1st Duke of Chandos and Marquess of Carnarvon, 1st Earl of Carnarvon and Viscount Wilton, 9th Baron Chandos. Earldom of Carnarvon was created with a special remainder failing the heirs male of his body to those of his father.

  • James Brydges, 3rd Duke of Chandos, de jure 7th Lord Kinloss. (1731–1789) On the death of the 3rd Duke of Chandos all his titles became extinct and the barony became dormant except for the Lordship of Kinloss, which passed to his only surviving daughter, Lady Anne Eliza Brydges. The 3rd Duke's son-in-law, the 2nd Marquess of Buckingham, was created Duke of Buckingham and Chandos in 1822. See House of Temple-Grenville.
