- John Petty (FitzMaurice), 1st Earl of Shelburne, 1st Viscount FitzMaurice and Baron Dunkeron, 1st Baron Wycombe (1706–1761), second son of Thomas Fitzmaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry and Anne Petty, daughter of Sir William Petty and Elizabeth, Baroness Shelburne. In 1751 he succeeded to the estates of his maternal uncle Henry Petty, 1st Earl of Shelburne, and assumed by Royal license the surname of Petty in lieu of FitzMaurice.
